IT. was a hit in the eighties! There is plenty of idiomatic , folklore, and african story telling in the song. He pays tribute briefly to the "Alaafin of Oyo" the oba of the land of Oyo."

Surprisingly enough, at the party was a beautiful woman dancing with a married man at the party - the party was groovy and hot and not knowing the wife of the man was watching; and from nowhere she danced with her samba (ikebe) to chase the other woman away from her husband. I don't blame her joo!!!"

Special thanks to Global Groover for posting this great Juju music.

Hey Dude, Thank you for all these fantastic Sunny Ade's collections. You are just simply terrific. I used to have this particular LP which I bought a few months before I left Nigeria in 1981 for India where it was eventually stolen along with all my other LPs collections back then. God bless you for making it possible to listen to this one again. Also do you happen to be having the one titled "SUKU SUKU BAM BAM" etc also released on SALPS just before this one. I have been searching relentlessly for it online and all I could get is the revised version on his "Seven Degree North" CD album which is not quite like the original one on the LP. In fact that's the one I like the best among all his LPs. I think he was really at his best with that composition. Please if you know where I can get it to purchase either the LP or the CD or MP3, just let me know, my email is solarexy@yahoo.com, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you again and God bless you.

@SholaBaby - Oh man I wish I could have seen your LP collection before it got stolen. An LP collection bought in Nigeria in the late 70's early 80's ... Whoa. But you say it was stolen. So it goes.

Hey, I dont have "SUKU SUKU BAM BAM" so sorry but I'll look for it. Keep your fingers crossed.

Hey Groovy Dude,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I wish you could too, probably share them with you as well. :-) You know before they were stolen I used to have those US top chart lists like The Brothers Johnson, Dynasty, Shalamar, Kleer, Cameo, Teddy Pendergrass, Rick James, KC and the Sunshine Band, Boney M, Munich Machine. Giorgio Moroder and all the Donna Summer's since she first bust the chart in Europe and the US in 1975/76 just to name a few of them. Only this one, "Suku Suku Bam Bam" and "Ori mi ye o ja fun mi" are those I used to have of Sunny Ade as my Nigerian folk music collections. He is just simply my favorite, well along with Fela's music as well. It was when I came to Bahrain in the very late 80's that I started re collecting some of the western albums on CD (or LP if they ain't released on CD) starting from HMV UK then amazon sites and then to all other sites like Musicstack or GEMM or ebay but so far the "Suku Suku Bam Bam" has been very elusive to find . I would love to buy all the three of them back now preferably on LP because they sound better than CDs and I still have my Direct Drive Technics Turntable along with my Hi-Fi system to take care of that. I can just ripped them on to my iTunes library for posterity and all that and store them away again. :-) That's the good side of the digital technology anyway.

So here is the deal. I would like you to help me with the search for them three as well (which you said you would and thank you for that). After that just point me to the right direction as a good shepherd :-) and I'll take it from there like a wise gentle lamb. :-)

One more thing about this "Golden Mercury of Africa" album. How come you did not post it in stereo sound on this blog? I know its stereo effect is very very rich which was what used to first prompted me to buy LPs back then. So is it possible to re post it again in its stereo format please? :-) It would be very nice and lovely if it's possible.

Thank you for being such a great lover of good music and a wonderful music aficionado...

God bless you always...
